Two new Cds have been released in the last few months - full details can be found by clicking the CD link above.
Edwin Roxburgh: Oboe Music
Chamber Music of Brian Ferneyhough including his monumental work for oboe and strings: Allgebrah.
Both CDs have received critical press acclaim for the quality of the music recorded, the performances and for the quality of the recordings themselves.
I am still in the process of developing this site and so some of the pages are not yet very informative! I will be writing and developing the pages during the next few months - so watch this space!
- The site offers information about my professional performing career and many of the buttons above are quite obvious.
- News in brief can be found to the right of this page and is expanded in the 'News and Events' page (click the button above).
- I am continuing to develop and research many issues surrounding the performance of contemporary oboe music and I would welcome any questions, comments or bits of information you may wish to offer on these subjects.

- Above is a button entitled 'Research Pages'. I receive a large number of emails asking questions about the oboe today from both performers and composers. The idea of these pages is that they will supply a range of information on topics of interest to composers, oboists and to students learning music or writing dissertations on aspects of contemporary oboe performance.
They will also, eventually, contain a great deal of my own research.
"...the result of a quarter-century’s dedicated research and graft: one man’s love affair with the contemporary oboe. Redgate is one of a tiny band of oboists across the world who have made a life’s work of taking the instrument into the farthest reaches of technical virtuosity and physical capability, and in doing so inspired a generation of composers to create a virtuoso repertoire characterised by blazing compositional audacity and extremity." James Weeks – Tempo Magazine
